Ireland (Varian MercuryPlus 300, Rm. 105) is used on a first come, first served basis on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am. to 4:00 pm. and on Monday through Friday from 9:00 am. to 6:00 pm. All users must put their names on the ireland waiting list. Users should limit their instrument time to 15 minutes if other users are on the waiting list. After using ireland, a user must remove her/his name from the waiting list and call the next person on the waiting list. If the waiter's phone is busy or there is no answer, the caller should call the next person on the list. Do not remove waiters from the list that have not been contacted unless you are sure that they no longer wish to use the spectrometer. If a user needs a period of instrument time longer than 15 minutes, he/she should request ireland (Varian MercuryPlus 300), lutz (Varian UnityInova 300), or burger (Varian UnityInova 500) time (see Instrument Scheduling System for more information on scheduling).
Lutz (Varian UnityInova 300, Rm. 106) is used on a first come, first served basis on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am. to 4:00 pm. and on Monday through Friday from 9:00 am. to 8:00 pm. Users must make an entry on the lutz waiting list and use the spectrometer for no more than 15 minutes if another user is waiting. Advance requests may be made for all other times.
Burger is used on a first come, first served basis on Wednesday from 9:00am to 4pm. Advance requests for any duration of time up to 5 days may be made for other times. One may reserve a maximum of 5 days during any 14 day period.
The GN 300 is currently used primarily for phosphorus experiments. If you would like to use the GN 300 contact Jeff Ellena.
If any instrument
is idle and has not been reserved, a user may use it without a prior reservation;
before using the instrument, a reservation request should be completed for long
term use (more than 20 minutes on ireland, lutz, or burger), or a waiting list
entry should be made for short term use (less than 20 minutes on ireland, lutz,
or burger, 2 hours or less on the GN-300).
Each lab may use up 500 megabytes on burger and lutz, and 1 gigabyte on the data stations chemnmr1 and chemnmr2. When a lab uses more than the maximum disk space, if arrangements are not made with the MR Lab, the oldest files will be deleted until disk use is cut to the appropriate maximum.
See the Instrument Scheduling System for more information on scheduling.
